Ice sheets melting faster than earlier estimates – Washington Post

A new report by scientists from NASA shows that ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland are melting more quickly than previously predicted. Furthermore, the rate of melting is increasing. According to the report this will cause such a great amount of water to be released into the Earth’s oceans that sea level could rise half a foot by 2050. The study used two techniques to measure melting over a period of 18 years.
