It’s Bottoms Up For Antarctic Ice Sheets – NPR

Researcher at Columbia University shows that Antarctic ice is not only created by falling snow but also by continous melting and refreezing on the bottom of the vast ice shield. This not only visibly alters the surface ice, but also impacts climate studies as air trapped in the ice is an indicator on climate changes in the past.
