Having just completed an expedition to Antarctica, an 18 member team from the Indian army will now try to scale the eighth highest mountain peak – Mount Manaslu (8,163 meters ) in Nepal between march and june.The expedition is flagged off by Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt General V S Tonk and would be led by Colonel Ajay Kothiyal. Army began scaling all the open mountain peaks above 8000 meters after it successfully submitted the Mount Everest in 2001. So far different mountaineering teams of Indian army have climbed six out of nine 8000 meter high peaks.
